How do I know if my child needs support in their speech sounds or language skills?

Signs that your child might benefit from intervention include struggles with pronouncing certain sounds, difficulty understanding or following instructions, limited vocabulary for their age, trouble forming sentences, and challenges in social interactions due to communication barriers.

Additionally, if your child’s speech or language development seems significantly behind that of their peers or if you have concerns about their progress, consulting with a speech pathologist can provide valuable insight and guidance. Early intervention is key in addressing speech and language concerns, as it can help prevent further delays and improve your child’s communication skills and overall development. 

What ages are your books/courses suitable for?

• The Speech Sounds Online course is suitable for children ages 3 up.
• The oral language course is suitable for children 16 months to 3 years.
• The Readable book is for beginner readers – pre-school to Grade 3 children.

Can I access the courses/resources on different devices?

Yes you can (as long as you have internet access) – you will have a log in and you can access the courses from your computer, tablet or smartphone so you can do anytime/anywhere. You also have lifelong access.

What support is available for parents during the course?

Each of the courses have their own dedicated Facebook group where I, or fellow participants, can answer questions and give support.

For example, if you are unsure if your child is saying his/her sound the right way, or if you are teaching it the right way, you can upload a short video and I will provide feedback and guidance on.

Will an online course be as effective as face-to-face sessions?

For some communication needs, YES. The courses I have designed are not to replace therapy for children with identified communication delays and severe speech sound delays.

The best educator for your child is YOU – therefore being taught how to enhance your child’s reading, language or speech sounds will help your child.

Plus you will have the support provided in the Facebook groups. Online, self-paced courses offer flexibility in scheduling and accessibility and no lengthy wait time on speech pathology waitlists. You can make a difference for your child now. Many people find online, self-paced sessions convenient and comfortable, and you can revisit a session as often as you like.

Weekly or fortnightly speech therapy is also not always accessible due to the cost.
